The value of export seafood products of Bac Lieu province in 2018 continues to grow over the same period in 2017. The total value of exported goods is over 641 million USD, equal to 100% of the plan and higher than the same period last year 14.34%. However, the export sector of seafood has to cope with many difficulties, challenges and high risks.
Investment in deep processing that helps increase the value of tra fish is an indispensable trend currently. Accordingly, some companies have initially created high value products such as cooking oil, collagen, and gelatin, etc, from tra fish.
Dr. Vo Hung Dung, Vice President of Viet Nam Pangasius Association, Director of VCCI Can Tho, said that the Chengdu City of Sichuan province (China) cooperated with the Association to organize the Vietnamese tra fish drafting competition in China.

During this time, all phases related to food safety, circulation permits and use of veterinary drugs from culturing to processing period would be inspected.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Viet Nam, on June 15th 2017, the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources issued a notification that the Department had received a written certification by Viet Nam’s competent authority, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Viet Nam National Agro – Forestry – Fisheries Quality Assurance Department (NAFIQAD) that it can meet the import conditions included in the updated health certificate.
During the Conference on the development of Vietnam’s shrimp industry held on 6th February 2017 in Ca Mau province, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc asked the shrimp industry to reach 10 billion USD export revenue by 2025 instead of 2030. Moreover, the PM called for developing of a world-famous Vietnamese shrimp trademark while associating shrimp cultivation with sustainable socio-economic development and environmental protection.
