Science and technology research: Important element in Fishery sector restructuring (14-09-2018)

On 11 Sept 2018 in Bac Ninh province, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development held a seminar on science and technology specialized in fisheries. At the workshop, many researchers have been highly appreciated for scientific and practical application by scientific councils.
Science and technology research: Important element in Fishery sector restructuring

According to the Department of Science, Technology and Environment (MARD), in the period of 2013 - 2018 nearly 80 scientific and technological research tasks have been carried out with more than VND 330 billion, focusing on key aquatic species serving to restructure the agricultural sector. Fish seed of 13 species and 7 technical advances have been recognized, contributing to the strong development of the fisheries sector, mainly focusing on brackish shrimp, Tra fish and cold-water fish and marine capture. In addition, many models of techniques for raising key species and specialties of the region have been transferred to replication.

Dr. Nguyen Giang Thu, Deputy Director of Department of Science, Technology and Environment said that the goal of scientific and technological researches in the period from 2018 to 2025 is to improve the efficiency of scientific research, application and technology transfer, focusing on three major product axes ( nation, region and local) to restructure the agricultural sector in the direction of modernization, enhancing value added and sustainable development associated with building new rural areas; To build and expand technical advances, thus contributing to raise efficiency, increasing incomes…

At the workshop, many delegates said that in order to achieve the objective, improving the level, capacity of research and application of science and technology in the fisheries sector is urgent. In particular, the first attention is the seed and seed production, followed by research on diseases – a factor directly affecting the efficiency and sustainable development of the sector. In addition, it is necessary to mobilize all resources to focus on research tasks, avoiding to dispersion and prodigality of resources. In addition, it is necessary to focus on improving fishing efficiency, encouraging offshore fishing; Aquaculture should aim to access scientific and technological advances of the world to enhance the competitiveness of products.
