Viet Nam and the Russian Federation have a long and cooperative process. The Russia currently has more than 100 investment projects in Vietnam, ranking 23th in the list of investors in Viet Nam. Viet Nam - Russia economic and trade cooperation has recently developed positively. In 2016, the growth rate of imports and exports between Viet Nam and Russia was 26%, Especially Viet Nam - Russia trade turnover in January 2017 reached a growth rate of 45%. This is an amazing growth in the context of the world economy witnessing many fluctuations and degradations in recent years.
Exhibitions and fairs are effective ways for cooperation and exchanges between enterprises and associations of the two countries. The workshop was expected to bring good opportunities for Vietnamese businesses and associations to share and discuss the difficulties and challenges in accessing the Russian market, helping businesses to capture information of the Russian market as well as the advantages given by trade agreements between Viet Nam and the Russia especially the Free Trade Agreement between Viet Nam and Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) since October 2016.
Giving the closing remark of the workshop, Ms. Tran Kim Oanh hoped the workshop would provide more information and open up market access opportunities for Vietnamese businesses and associations to expand business in Russia. At the same time, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also affirmed that it would actively support Vietnamese enterprises and associations to organize and participate in trade fairs located in the Russia in the coming time, especially the Viet Nam – Russia Business Forum which will take place in late October 2017 in Moscow. Ms. Oanh also hoped that EXPOCENTRE will actively support not only the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency but also all Vietnamese companies and associations to effectively organize trade fairs and exhibitions in both Viet Nam and Russia.
