New technology for sustainable Tra fish farming (14-06-2018)
In Can Tho province, the World Wildlife Fund (WWF Vietnam) in collaboration with the Vietnam Association of Pangasius (VINAPA) has organized the workshop "Sustainable development of Tra fish farming through the application of E- Map and IoT".
The workshop introduced the modern technology applied in tra farming such as: map of Tra fish farming area (E-MAP); Using Internet of Things (IoT) technology to automatically control the pond water environment.
Especially with the E-Map tool, VINAPA has updated 300 Tra fish farming areas in 6 provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta (including Can Tho city and provinces of Dong Thap, An Giang, Ben Tre, Vinh Long, Tien Giang), at a total of 1,805 ponds of Tra fish, with an area of 1,800 hectares
Nowaday, consumers pay special attention to the origin of Tra fish products. So thanks to the use of the E-map tool, farmers and enterprises easily find information and determine the exact location of farming on the system.
Moreover, using IoT technology via smart phone will help farmers monitor ponds at all times, manage growth and crop; control the production process under VietGAP standard; making cost estimation and cost management for the whole season.
In the coming time, the application of new technology will fully update the data on 4,000 ponds with about 6,000 hectares in the Mekong Delta. This is the basis for the survey on the impact of salinity intrusion on the environment and economic efficiency in commercial Tra fish farming.
