Tien Giang: Installing cruise monitoring equipment on fishing vessels (15-07-2019)

But until July 4, 2019, there were 74/134 fishing vessels were installed cruise monitoring equipment in Tien Giang province.

At point e, clause 3, article 44, decree No. 26/2019/ND-CP dated March 8, 2019 of the Government regulated measures to implement the Fisheries Law, clearly stating the installation schedule fishing vessel monitoring equipment. Accordingly, fishing vessels with the largest length of 24m or more must be installed monitoring device before July 1, 2019; For trawlers, ocean tuna fishing with the largest length of 15m to less than 24m must be installed before Jan 1, 2020; Other fishing vessels with the largest length of 15m to under 24m must be installed before April 1, 2020.

Directing in the official dispatch No. 1881/UBND-KTTC dated May 9, 2019 of Tien Giang provincial people's committee on continuing to implement urgent measures to combat the exploitation of IUU and strengthen the implementation of the fisheries law. In 2017, the DARD of province in collaboration with the Provincial Border Guard Command strengthened the propaganda, inspection and control of fishing vessels to dock; in which, resolutely do not allow fishing vessels to leave the port without installing cruise monitoring equipment according to the prescribed time.

At the same time, the province coordinates with producing and supplying surveillance equipment such as Viettel Tien Giang, VNPT Tien Giang, etc urgently completing the installation of fishing vessel surveillance equipment according to the Decree. 26 of Government.

The installation of cruise monitoring equipment not only facilitates fisheries management, facilitates the inspection and traceability of seafood origin exploited by fishermen at sea but also plays an important role in preventing illegal exploitation of seafood, maintaining security and order at sea and protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the country.
