Ca Mau: In 2019, fishing vessels which are not equipped with monitoring equipment are not allowed for offshore fishing (27-07-2018)

In 2019, fishing vessels without monitoring equipment are not allowed for offshore fishing, which is one of the important contents of the Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee in regulating the safety of fishing vessels when fishing offshore.

Previously, Ca Mau Provincial People's Committee issued Plan 72/KH-UBND on the installation of fishing vessel monitoring equipment in Ca Mau province. It is expected that by the end of December of 2018, the equipment will be installed for 100% fishing vessels of the prescribed size. Those vessels that are not installed the equipment as prescribed will not be able to fish offshore.

In order to create favorable conditions for fishermen, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development coordinated with Ca Mau Viettel to install and test fishing vessel monitoring equipment on 9 fishing vessels. Test results meet the required features of the province.

This is due to the fact that the situation of fishermen in violation of foreign waters in the process of fishing. The Prime Minister has issued official Telegraph No. 732/CĐ-TTg dated May 28, 2017 and Directive No. 45/CT-TTg dated 13/12/2017 on stopping and terminating illegal fishing vessels fishing in foreign waters.

Ca Mau has more than 3,650 fishing vessels and also one of the provinces with high number of fishing vessels caught in foreign fishing.
