Quang Ninh province: The total production of fisheries increased by 4.8 percent (12-06-2018)

In May, thanks to favorable weather, total production of fisheries in Quang Ninh province reached nearly 10.4 thousand tons. Of which production of capture fisheries and aquaculture were over 5.9 thousand tons and 4.4 thousand tons, respectively.

In the first five months, total production was estimated at over 45.1 thousand tons, up 4.8 percent year on year. Of which, production of capture fisheries and aquaculture were over 26.7 thousand tons and 18.4 thousand tons, respectively.

In May, over 1.16 billion of seeds were released on an area of 8.903 hectares. This bought the figure in the first five months to 3.56 billion on the area of more than 20,000 hectares

Although the seed supply is modest compared to the demand, this is also the effort of the local government to increase the number of seed production in order to ensure origin, quality of seeds and to avoid disease for farmers in the area.

In the coming time, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development will continue to take the initiative in catching up with information on weather, the situation of aquaculture, natural disasters and epidemics in aquaculture. Based on that, local government will have a plan on directing the production in time, strengthening the control and monitoring of diseases on aquaculture, especially for bloodstocks management and environmental monitoring at concentrated aquaculture areas .

At the same time, the local authority will organize the implementation of the projects such as the project to develop commercial crab in Quang Ninh province in 2018; Project to develop cage fish farming by environmentally friendly materials in Quang Ninh province in the period of 2018-2020; the project of stocking and replanting the aquatic resources in the natural water in the province.

In addition with aquaculture, the provincial authorities will continue to promote propaganda about the capture activities and protection of fisheries resources in the province. Fishermen have been guided about some policies to encourage marine aquaculture and offshore fishing activities. At present, the provincial fishing fleet included 6,997 fishing vessels, of which vessels with a capacity of 90CV is about 599 vessels, an increase of 45 vessels compared to 2017.
