In order to gain that result, fish farmers in the province have actively expanded the area of intensive and semi-intensive farming with aquatic species who have high productivity, quality and economic value. Currently, the province has over 600ha of water surface for intensive aquaculture, 2,000ha of semi-intensive farming and nearly 3,400ha of extensive farming. High-value species (such as hybrid carp, mono-sex tilapia, eel, frog, etc.) are cultured in over 40 per cent of the total area.

With the goal of bringing the aquaculture production of the province to over 15,500 tons in 2020, in the coming time, the fisheries sector will focus on implementing solutions to make full use of the water surface of the reservoir for aquaculture on the basis of harmony between irrigation and aquaculture and other activities. At the same time, the province sets target to build a concentrated and high-quality aquaculture zone in the form of cooperative groups and farms with an area of around 500 hectares, accounting for over 50% of the intensive farming area in the province.
