Pushing up Vietnam’s agricultural products export to China (19-12-2018)
In November, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in collaboration with Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee held a conference aimed at promoting the export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to the Chinese market.
Attending the conference were representatives of leaders of the ministries, leaders of Quang Ninh province and some provinces and cities; Consulate General of Vietnam in Guangxi (China); Representatives of the leaders of Phong Thanh region, Quang Tay province (China) and more than 200 enterprises producing and trading agricultural, forestry and fishery products of Vietnam and China.
Statistics showed that so far Vietnam's agricultural products are exported to 180 markets around the world. In 2017, the export turnover of agricultural products in Vietnam reached US $ 36.52 billion. In the first nine months of 2018, the total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery reached US $ 29.55 billion, up 9.3% over the same period. Particularly in Quang Ninh province, in 2017, the goods export turnover of enterprises through the border gate of the province reached over US $ 4.38 billion, of which agriculture, forestry and fishery products reached US $ 0.68 billion, up 17.97% over the same period. In the first nine months of 2018, the export reached US $ 3.24 billion, of which agriculture, forestry and fishery reached US $ 0.43 billion, up 12.47% over the same period.
China is Vietnam's largest export market for agricultural products. However, as well as the general trend in the international market, the demand for quality goods imported into China has been increasing, which is also a challenge for Vietnam's agricultural producers and exporters. The conference on promoting agricultural, forestry and fishery export to the Chinese market was held to promote the consumption of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products Vietnam to the Chinese market. Through the conference, managers, policy makers, producers and exporters of agricultural products of the two countries exchanged information, cooperated and shared experiences and identified difficulties and obstacles; to solve the problem, as well as propose measures to promote consumption, export of agricultural products of Vietnam to the Chinese market.
The conference focused on a number of issues to promote the import and export of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products to the Chinese market such as the supply situation and measures to promote sustainable export of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to the market; Chinese policies, procedures for export and import of agricultural, forest and aquatic products through the border gates of Quang Ninh province; Policies, mechanisms and regulations governing imports of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products from Vietnam into China. Also at this conference, functional branches and localities have directly exchanged and answered questions and concerns of importers of agricultural, forestry and aquatic products of the two countries. At the conference, 20 Vietnamese and Chinese enterprises has signed a memorandum of understanding on agricultural products.
