Fisheries production in the first seven months up 3 per cent (07-08-2015)
According to D-FISH’s report, the country’s fisheries production in July gained 598 thousand tons, equivalent to previous year. This made up Jan-July figure 3.66 million tons, up 3 per cent y-o-y.
Regarding fishing performance, the weather on fishing grounds was rather favorable, coupled with the stable price of fuel, encouraging the fishermen to go fishing. As a result, fishing yield in July gained 255 thousand tons, up 2.6 per cent compared to the same period last year, bringing the accumulative yield to 1,719 thousand tons, up 4.1 per cent and fulfilling 63.7 per cent of the year’s plan.
The country’s total aquaculture production in July gained 343 thousand tons, making up Jan-July figure 1.94 million tons, up 2.1 per cent and fulfilling nearly 50 per cent of the year’s plan.
By the end of July, stocking areas in the country were 622,394 ha, including 570,688 ha of black tiger shrimp farming areas and 51.706 ha of white-legged shrimp. The harvested shrimp yield gained 237,739 tons, including black tiger shrimp and white-legged shrimp of 122,347 and 116,392 tons, respectively.
Tra fish farming area was 3,508 ha, up 2 per cent, bringing about 561,986 tons, up 4.2 per cent compared to the same period last year.
