Tra fish export to Belgium increased by more than 34% (21-08-2019)
As one of the four major tra fish import markets of Vietnam in the EU region, tra fish export to Belgium in the past 7 months has increased strongly, with an increase of more than 34%.
According to Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), as of the first half of July 2019, the total value of tra fish export to Belgium market reached US $ 12.9 million, up 34.3% over the same period last year. This is the 4th largest market of Vietnamese tra fish in the EU region. Although, compared with some potential markets of Vietnam tra fish in Asia, the value of exporting tra fish to Belgium is only one half, however, in the first 6 months, exporting tra fish to this market increased quite stably.
Currently, Vietnam is the largest source of white fish products for the Belgian market. So far, the majority of export tra fish products to this market are frozen tra fish (HS 030462) with an average export price of US $ 1.9 - 4.93 / kg. In particular, frozen cut tra fish products size 90-140gr average export price from US $ 1.85-2 / kg. In addition to frozen tra fish products, Vietnam also exports processed tra fish products (HS 1604) to this market, especially the tra fish, frozen shrimp (HS 16042099) with the average export price is from US $ 6.5-6.7 / kg.
There are about 5 Vietnamese Tra fish exporting enterprises participating in exporting to Belgium, which are concentrated in provinces of Dong Thap, Can Tho, An Giang and Tien Giang.
According to the latest statistics of the World Trade Center, in the first months of 2019, Vietnam is the largest white meat market for Belgium market, accounting for 25-37% of total white fish imports of this country. In addition to importing tra fish from Vietnam, Belgium also imports other white fish such as tilapia from China and imports some frozen or chilled cod products from the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and France.
Thus, in the first half of this year, Belgium is a relatively stable export market of Vietnamese tra fish, with quite good import prices compared to regional markets, in the coming time, exporting Tra fish to this market can hold higher growth.
