In this context, the center for the Conservation of Marine Life and Community Development (MCD) continues activities to strengthen fisheries management, maintain sustainable livelihoods and ensure food security, in collaboration with D-Fish and other related partners carry out the initiative "Pilot technology application to contribute to reducing IUU, towards sustainable fisheries management, 2019-2020"

The initiative received attention from the Oceanic and Fisheries Partnership Project (USAID Ocean and Leg Partnership) and the Global Fishing Watch (GFW) which promises to bring a lot of useful knowledge, experience and lessons learned, expanding local impact.

In order to unify the work deployment plan and information exchange among the parties involved in the application of information technology such as: electronic diaries, traceability, analysis of monitoring data of fishing vessels, centers information on fisheries, Directorate of Fisheries cooperated with MCD to hold the meeting “Starting the information exchange on electronic technology system to help reduce IUU Fishing in Vietnam” on December 11, 2019 in Hanoi.

At the meeting, delegates exchanged information related to electronic diary technology (eCDT) and fishing monitoring data system; discuss, share management experience related to IUU fishing activities, opportunities, challenges and agree on an action plan for piloting the application of electronic journal and traceability, research monitoring data for fishing vessels to use these data effectively contributes to the improvement of our country's fisheries management.

The meeting brought together stakeholders to discuss technology application issues to reduce IUU in Vietnam. The representatives of the management agencies shared practical working experience, urgent information in the recent period, creating an overall picture of policies, regulations and initiatives in fisheries management towards reducing IUU in our country.
