Khanh Hoa needs more effort to overcome the yellow card for seafood (22-10-2018)

In Khanh Hoa, the situation of violations of fishing vessels in the foreign sea area has been reduced from the beginning of the year but still recorded two cases. This represents a great effort of Khanh Hoa province, but also a challenge for localities to end this situation. This content was mentioned in the preliminary conference to assess the results of implementation of urgent tasks and solutions to overcome the European Commission (EC) warning for Vietnamese seafood. Mr. Dao Cong Thien - Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

Over nearly the past 1 year, Khanh Hoa province has promoted propaganda, with 40 times for more than 3000 fishermen; installation of communication panels against illegal fishing activities and maps showing the maritime boundaries; propagation of the regulations required to install Movimar equipment and to upgrade cruise control equipment. Khanh Hoa province step by step organizes the management of electronic log for fishing vessels exploiting offshore areas in the province, helping the functional branches to easily monitor, supervise and strictly handle when the fishing vessels violate. At the conference, many fishermen, owners of seafood processing and export enterprises also raised many difficulties and problems in the implementation process.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee - Dao Cong Thien answered many questions of the fishermen and enterprises and asked the whole political system together with fishermen and businesses to actively join together to remove the EC gold card, in particular, focus on control of fisheries resources at fishing ports, processing enterprises to trace origins. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) has coordinated with the functional agencies to promote the propaganda for the fishermen to understand the regulations, especially the Fisheries Law in 2017; to strictly control fishing vessels to detect and promptly prevent illegal activities....
