In particular, not only impact to enterprises, tra fish farmers are also under considerable pressure to increase anti-dumping tax from the US. In the Mekong Delta region, the price of raw tra fish has dropped by below VND 25,000 per kg. Accordingly, in order to have better selling prices, some farmers have changed from increasing the culture area to focusing on improving quality and associating with businesses. Along with that, in addition to ensuring good prices and output, the farmers - businesses need to strengthen their cohesion with each other in the current situation. On the other hand, to help improve the competitiveness of Vietnamese tra fish products, farmers and processors should pay attention to the production chain. The reason is that not only in the US market but also in all other markets, quality issues and traceability are of top concerns.

By the end of the first quarter of 2019, Vietnamese tra fish export reached more than US$ 472 million, up 7.8% compared to the same period last year. Thereby, tra fish export industry of our country still maintains good growth momentum and will be even higher if it is well organized the production chain in a methodical way.

According to Mr. Duong Nghia Quoc - Chairman of Vietnam Pangasius Association (VPA), in 2019, VPA will focus on breeding and expanding export markets. Besides, the sector will continue to boost production, develop consumer markets, promote sustainable growth, actively integrate into international policies, develop policies and promote administrative reform. In addition, the association will strictly enforce the regulations on fishery capture and traceability, soon solving the EU's “yellow card” issue; at the same time harmonizing regulations on fishery control according to international practices.
