Tra fish export to Egypt increased by 34% (18-10-2018)

In the first eight months of 2018, the total export value of tra fish to the Egyptian market was US $ 24.2 million, up 34% over the same period last year. This is still one of the three most important tra fish export markets of Vietnamese tra fish enterprise in the Middle East.
Tra fish export to Egypt increased by 34%

In the first two months of this year, tra fish exports to this market decreased from 38% to 71% over the same period last year. But in the next 3 months, the export value to this market increased very strongly from 100.6% to 207.9% year on year.

In the structure of seafood export in the first eight months of 2018, tra fish was the seafood product exported to Egypt with the highest value, accounting for 81%, followed by shrimp and other aquatic products. Stagnation of aquatic import, including tra fish of Saudi Arabia, a big import market, made Vietnamese enterprises push into the UAE and Egypt market. As a result, during the past 8 months, tra fish export to this market was relatively good. However, comparing with the UAE market, Egypt market is more uncertain and more risky, especially in the payment process.

In the end of August 2018, during a state visit to Egypt, President H.E Tran Dai Quang met with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly in Cairo. During the meeting, the Vietnamese side also suggested Egypt to soon complete its internal procedures for the double taxation avoidance agreement to take effect and create favorable conditions for Vietnam to import agricultural products (pepper, coffee, tea, etc.), aquatic (tra fish, basa fish, etc.) into supermarket chains of Egypt.

The two sides also agreed to launch the Halal Standards Program for Vietnamese goods exported to the Islamic market in general and the Egyptian market in particular. Hopefully, in the coming time, tra fish export in particular and aquatic products in general to this market will have more advantages and a better growth. This is still considered as one of the three potential markets of Vietnamese tra fish enterprise in this Middle East region.
