Nghe An province: Installing cruise monitoring equipment for 200 fishing vessels (03-06-2019)

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has supported Nghe An province with 200 cruise monitoring equipments for installing on offshore fishing vessels in the province.

Accordingly, the granted localities include Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu, Dien Chau, Cua Lo and Nghi Loc in Nghe An province. Nghe An Fisheries Department has started cooperating with Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station to install cruise monitoring equipment on fishing vessels in these localities.

The whole province of Nghe An has more than 3,900 fishing vessels, of which 234 vessels with the largest length of over 24m that are required to install cruise monitoring equipment before July 1, 2019. The remaining 1,309 fishing vessels with length from 15m to under 24m will be installed before January 1, 2020.

In order to install equipment, Nghe An Fisheries Department in coordination with Ben Thuy Coastal Information Station divided provincial vessels into 3 groups and installed devices on vessels of Quynh Luu district in the morning of May 21. It is expected that 200 monitoring devices will be installed before July 1, 2019. Each device costs about VND 40 million.

Quynh Luu is a district that has a big number of vessels (nearly 1,200 units, including 175 vehicles with a length of over 24m). In this phase, Quynh Luu district is supported to install 150 cruise monitoring machines on fishing vessels. In particular, Tien Thuy commune is supported 61/73 vessels; Quynh Nghia commune 66/74 vessels; commune Quynh Long 16/19 vessels; Son Hai commune 3/7 vessels and Quynh Thuan 2/2 vessels.

According to Nghe An Fisheries Department, during the time that vessels operated in the sea, these devices must be opened and operated 24 / 24h to help shore stations monitor and manage fishing vessels in accordance with regulations.
