New device for monitoring fishing vessels: Meet the requirement of automatic message to shore station (30-05-2019)

In order to meet the automatic synchronization of messages via satellite systems to shore stations with a frequency of 2 hours/time (for fishing vessels with a length of 24m or more) and 3 hours/time (for fishing vessels with a length from 15m to less than 24m), according to regulations, Binh Dinh province’s Fisheries sector has cooperated with Quy Nhon Coastal Information Station (Vietnam Maritime Electronic Information Company Limited), Vietnam Zunibal Limited Company (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), the Center for High Technology Development (Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology) to install a new equipment to test the cruise monitoring on 9 fishing vessels in the province.

After one month of testing, Mr. Van Cong Viet, in Hai Cang Ward (Quy Nhon City), fishing boat No. 9298 TS owner, said that monitoring equipment Vifish.18 has installed on fishing vessel by Quy Nhon Coastal Information Station. It not only met the requirements of automatic messaging via satellite system to the shore station, but also helped the ship owner to monitor the ship online, contact the fishing vessel via mobile device or TV with internet connection. After being used for testing, he bought this device installed on his fishing vessel.

It was also quite pleased to be used to test the fishing vessel monitoring device on Zuni VN-01 and installed by Vietnam Zunibal Co., Ltd. Mr. Le Van Binh, in Tam Quan Bac commune (Hoai Nhon district). Captain of the fishing vessel No. 98077 TS, shared: “The Zuni VN-01 device is easy to use, acts like a "black box"on board, automatically updates information on coordinates, speed, direction of fishing vessels and transfer these information to the shore via satellite every 1 hour. Besides, the Movimar machine is installed on the ship, I am also thinking to buy more Zuni VN-01”.

According to DARD, the whole province has 6,232 registered fishing vessels; in which 2,857 ships with length from 15m to less than 24m and 70 ships with length of over 24m that must install cruise monitoring equipment in accordance with Fisheries Law 2017. So far, the province has 521 fishing vessels which have installed with Movimar satellite navigation.

Mr. Phan Trong Ho, Director of DARD said that according to the operation plan, our province must ensure that 100% of fishing boats with length of 24 m or more are allowed to install Movimar machines in May 2019. From August to December 2019, all registered fishing vessels have to install VX-1700 communication equipment. If any fishing vessel does not meet the requirements for installing cruise monitoring equipment, the functional industry will not allow going out to sea as prescribed.
