Fines for breaches in fisheries activities are up to 2 billion

On November 21, 2017, at the 4th session of the 14th National Assembly, the Fisheries Law was adopted. The law comes into force on January 1, 2019.

On October 23, 2017, the European Fisheries Commission warned the yellow card for seafood originated from Vietnam with nine recommendations that Vietnam needs to implement immediately.

One of the nine recommends is that Vietnam should have a legal framework for sanctioning administrative violations in fishing operations, especially violations of illegal, unreported, and unregulated fishing.

Starting from the above reasons, the issuance of the Decree on sanctioning administrative violations in the fishery is very necessary.
