An Giang: invested 300 billions VND for two projects upgrading tra fish breeds (16-08-2018)

In order to meet the demand of breeding animals better, An Giang is focusing on implementing the project of linking production of 3-level high quality tra fish breeds in the Mekong Delta (approved by Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development under Decision No. 987/QD-BNN-TCTS on March 20th, 2018).

To accelerate the implementation of the project, An Giang is suggesting that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development support the implementation of two prioritized projects, namely investing to upgrade An Giang high quality tra fish breed Center and investing in regional infrastructure in the concentrated breed production in An Giang. For the high quality tra fish breed Center, it is expected to be built in Thoai Son district with a total investment of 300 billion VND, including two components: investment to upgrade the high quality tra fish breed Center (270 billion VND) and investment in genetic selection laboratory for tra fish breed in An Giang (30 billion VND).The target is by the year 2025, An Giang high quality tra fish breed Center will meet the criteria to participate in the first level units, to ensure supply of parental tra fish flocks producing at least 10,000 offsprings and 15,000 reserve offsprings per year, production of high quality fry reaches 10 billion fries per year. The genetic selection laboratory for tra fish breed in An Giang will be invested to meet regional standards, with a total area of  45 hectares, including 10 hectares of existing breeding stock (the second base) and 35 hectares expanded. The laboratory will help improve the quality of tra fish breeds and aquatic breeds through the application of genetic selection techniques in breeding with molecular genetics, as well as the construction of orientation and conservation of aquatic genetic resources in Vietnam.

For the infrastructure investment project in concentrated breed production in An Giang, the province will implement three concentrated nurseries with a scale of 350 hectares (150 hectares in Chau Phu, 100 hectares in Long Xuyen and 100 hectares in Tan Chau). For the 100 hectare area in Tan Chau, the province is inviting Vietnam Australia Corporation to invest.At present, An Giang is focusing on implementing high-tech tra fish culture model in Chau Phu district. There are two enterprises investing in the area with the scale of 300-400 hectares per area.The target is to invest in the infrastructure  of concentrated production area of 150 hectares in Chau Phu district to link culture model of enterprises with the concentrated nursery area, forming a value chain of tra fish closely linking from the stage of production to the culture, processing and export…
