Stable production

          Dong Thap province has more than 1,500 hectares of tra fish for exporting. In particular, the farming area of enterprises is over 968 hectares, the remaining is belonging to individual household. The average productivity is 350 tons per hectares.  Farming area which is applied and certified standards such as VietGap, Global Gap is over 809 hectares. In this time, tra fish price increases sharply to the highest prices with VND 28,000 to 30,000 per kilo, up VND 5,000 to 7.000 per kilo over the previous months. At this price, farmer has profit from VND 3,000 to 5,000 per kilo.

Connection in production

          At present, in order to improve the quality of products, ensure the quantity of material fish and enhance economic value, minimize losses, many household have connected with exporters so that they can sell products to exporters. Thanks to this connection, farmers are ensured to earn profit from VND 500 to 1,500 per kilo. The situation of raising and processing tra fish export in the beginning of this year is more favorable than previous year. Along with the development of commercial fish, breeding production is also bustling as well. There are 53 establishments for breeding production in the district of Hong Ngu, of which 31 brood stock farms are transferred to high quality genetic technology, supply annually nearly 500 million seeds and 10 billion fingerling for businesses and households inside and outside the province.

          On the other hand, prices of tra fish breed size from 30 to 40 units per kilo is from VND 30.000 to 40.000 per kilo, almost double over the same period. With this price, farmer has profit over VND 10.000 per kilo.
